Individual Expressive Arts Sessions
Navigating life's transitions through creative explorations
What is Expressive Arts Therapy?
Expressive Arts therapy is a therapeutic approach that utilises various forms of creative expression in a simple and effective way to help individuals explore and understand their emotions, thoughts, and experiences. The creative expressions used are
visual arts
drama
dance & movement
music
creative writing
Expressive Arts therapy can be used as a tool for self discovery, healing, and personal growth, allowing individuals to communicate and process their feelings in a non-verbal way. It is a holistic approach to therapy with the philosophy that we are our own experts and have the answers that we seek within us.
Benefits of the Expressive Arts
Sculpt stories from your experiences, paint emotions on the canvas of your soul, and drum through the rhythms of your life.
How do you work?
As an Expressive Arts Therapist in training, I offer Expressive Arts Therapy sessions tailored to individuals of all ages, from children and teenagers to adults. The focus of my work is to help guide you through the endings and new beginnings of life's transitions. We all go through transitions, no matter which stage of life we are in. All these transitions are powerful experiences in which we can learn a lot about ourselves. They close doors to what was and will always open doors for what can be: new possibilities.
coming of age
new career
parenthood
divorce
leaving the nest
menopause
end of relationship
job loss
retirement
new school
death
Yes, change can be confusing, frustrating & challenging, yet all the solutions are within you. My work is to help you identify your resources, build resilience, learn techniques to self-regulate, navigate your inner landscape and discover these solutions through your own creative expression.
Do I need to be an artist to take part in Expressive Arts Therapy?
Not at all! I use simple yet effective art making techniques that any one can do, so no previous art making experience is needed. Its important to remember that in the end, making art in this context is not about the outcome, its about the process that you go through ;)
SESSION FOCUS
You decide what you want to focus on for the session
ART MAKING
We go into the art making process
What does an Expressive Arts session look like?
What happens during an Expressive Arts session?
REFLECTION
You reflect upon the process to discover strengths, resources and surprises. You reflect upon the work you have created, what is it saying'?
IMPLEMENTATION
We look at how you can implement your discoveries into your everyday life. What can help you right now. We make a plan of action for the week ahead.
How many sessions will I need?
The first session we will have together will be an introductory session. After that I advise 10-sessions on a weekly or bi-monthly rhythm. After the 10-sessions are over there is always opportunity to continue.
How much does a session cost?
The first introduction session is free of charge. After that I work with a sliding scale which is between 40€ - 70€ for a 90 min session, depending on your income.
